Religion:
1. People with means desired control and obedience from those without means.
2. People with means created an idea and ideological construct over time that provided an illusion of security and enriched the masses with a personal hope they could own individually.
3. People with means constructed a system of tithing, to which an obedience was necessary to demonstrate penance and avoid further damnation, eternal Hell.
4. The idea of religion damned the masses with a lie, an idea of original sin, and necessitated allegiance from all should any have hope for salvation.
5. Various figureheads would hold power, at times temporarily and by democratic election, but no one holder of authority was ever perceived as greater than the power at center, their God.
People pursued enlightenment and strove to separate authority over people from the Church. With this they moved to have legal separation from church and government. People now applied sovereignty to the State as opposed to monarchs or church leaders. Life is now SO improved for the masses.
The State:

2. People with means created an idea and ideological construct over time that provided the illusion of security and enriched the masses with a personal hope they could own individually.
3. People with means constructed a system of tithing, taxation, to which an obedience was necessary to provide for those who were politically connected and avoid damnation, forced at gun point to live in a cage.
4. The idea of the State damned the masses with a lie, an idea of Leviathan as a necessary means to control the evil natural state of mankind, to which an allegiance was necessary for acceptance within a polite and obedient society.
5. Various figureheads would hold power, at times temporarily and by democratic election, but no one holder of authority was ever perceived as greater than the power at center, their State.
